David Gaul, Chairman
David Gaul is a Non-Executive Director and co-founder of CEA Technologies. Before forming the Company with Ian Croser, David spent 22 years in the Royal Australian Navy. David is a Foundation Fellow of the AICD and has served as councillor of the ACT Division of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the ACT Division of the Australian Business Chamber. David has served as a member of the ACT Government's various business advisory boards over the last 10 years. Other business forums in which he has served include: The Reserve Bank of Australia Small Business Committee, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Industry Policy and Innovation Committee, the Canberra Business Council, the Australian Science Festival Ltd Board, the ABL Defence Industry Committee of Council, and as Governor of the Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering. He is currently a member of the Board of Epicorp Ltd, Seeing Machines Pty Ltd, the Cooperative Research Centre for Sensor Signal and Information Processing (CSSIP), as well as a member of the Industry Research and Development Board's Commercialising Emerging Technologies/Industry Cooperative Innovation Program Committee (COMET/ICIP). In 2002, David became a Companion of Engineers Australia, and in 2003 was awarded a Centenary Medal for his service to Australian Defence and was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2003 in the Technology, Communication, E Commerce and Life Sciences category.
Michael Delaney BA, Director
Michael Delaney is the Foundation Executive Director of the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) which was formed in 1988. MTAA is the national peak body for the whole of the retail, service and repair sectors of the Australian automotive industry. Michael is also the Foundation Chief Executive Officer of the MTAA Super Fund, established in 1989. Since then the Fund has grown into one of Australia's largest industry superannuation funds with more than 265000 members, near to 24,000 employer-sponsors and just over $5 billion in assets under management.
Prior to Michael's appointments with MTAA and the MTAA Fund, he held senior positions in the Australian Public Service, including Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister, Principal Private Secretary to the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Trade, Principal Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, First Assistant Secretary for the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse in the Commonwealth Department of Health and Deputy Secretary/Principal Advisor to the Minister for Employment, Education and Training. Michael is a Member of Council of the Australian National University as well as Chairman of the ANU's Finance Committee.
Professor Ian Chubb AC, Director
Professor Ian Chubb is the Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University. His career includes six years as Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University and senior executive appointments at Monash University and the University of Wollongong. Ian has served in various capacities on a number of peak bodies -- Higher Education Council and the National Board of Employment, Education and Training, the National Committee for Quality in Higher Education, the NHMRC and ARC, as well as a Ministerial Task Force and the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council. He was Chair of the Australian Vice-Chancellor's Committee in 2000, and from 2004 - 2005 was Chair of the Group of Eight Universities. In 2006, he was elected the President of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) for a two year term. In June 2006, Professor Chubb was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia for "service to higher education including research and development policy in the pursuit of advancing the national interest socially, economically, culturally and environmentally and to the facilitation of a knowledge-based global economy."
