Karen brings recent experience in university technology transfer and research grant management to her role at ANU Connect Ventures managing the Discovery Translation Fund and the company’s operations.

Prior to joining ANU Connect Ventures, Karen led teams delivering research management and development services in the ANU’s College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. During this time she was awarded the Australasian Research Management Society’s Award for Excellence for her role in leading change as well as her driving role in the development of a graduate research management program.

Earlier Karen worked as a Business Development Manager in the Physical Sciences for the ANU’s Office of Commercialisation where she received a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Innovation and Excellence for her contribution to establishing the InnovationANU entrepreneurial skills program.

Before coming to the ANU in 2005, Karen worked in an organisational development and change management consultancy with a focus on developing collaboration skills in the public, business and R&D sectors.  She has also undertaken a variety of roles in marketing and promotion, property and retail management following her graduation from The Australian National University with a Bachelor in Economics.

Karen has particular interests in supporting outcomes-oriented science and developing collaboration as a foundation for entrepreneurship.
